Growing up in Richmond, Virginia but originally from Huntington Beach, California, Drew Harris has lived the Bi coastal experience. Following high school, Drew went to the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2000 after six semesters of study. A semester off from school in 1999 took Drew to New Zealand, Australia, and the South Pacific. Drew graduated Cum Laude with a major in Religious Studies and minor in Sociology. After a brief stint in Richmond, Drew stumbled upon the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he became a Hang Gliding Instructor for Kitty Hawk Kites. Outside of a short hiatus to Salt Lake City in 2002 where Drew was a Volunteer Coordinator for the Salt Lake Olympic Committee, he spent the next five years on a hang gliding adventure that took him all over the US and into Costa Rica, Brazil, and back to New Zealand. During this time, he became a nationally recognized hang gliding instructor with peak ratings of Hang IV & Tandem Instructor II, the highest ratings attainable in the United States Hang Gliding Association. Drew helped a colleague start a flight school in Florianopolis, Brazil as well as one in Esterillos, Costa Rica. While he managed a flight park in Florida, Drew organized two different World Hang Gliding Championships in 2004 and 2005. Drew was elected Safety Director and Meet Organizer for both the 2004 World Class II Hang Gliding Championships and then the 2005 Class I World Hang Gliding Championships in Big Spring, Texas. During both these events, Drew managed a volunteer crew of 30+ and a pilot group of 150+ through ensuring safe and successful flying.
In June 2006, Drew moved to Charleston after being married in Chicago. Within two years of living in Charleston, Drew's and his Bride; Michelle, opened Café Medley on Sullivan’s Island. During this time, Drew was also the General Manager of Atlanticville Restaurant, also on Sullivan’s Island. Drew and Michelle live in Mount Pleasant with their twin girls Naomi Paige and Olivia Byrd. Together Drew and Michelle continue to own/operate Café Medley while pursuing a variety of other activities, both personally and professionally. In addition, over the past couple years, Drew also helped several small local businesses grow and become more efficient on a consulting basis.
